LEOPARDSat-1
The first satellite from the University of Cincinnati and the first student satellite from the State of Ohio.
A 1U cubesat with a scientific payload on board designed to research new materials for radiation shielding to protect astronauts in space as we journey to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
16 RADFET sensors are placed under experimental payload samples of carbon-carbon with HDPE shielding. The system is stabilized using the magnetic field of the Earth for passive attitude control while transiting the Van Allen radiation belts.
